The future inspires, and real solutions arise from today’s challenges. This May, NEVDA representatives — Elpako Product Lead Justina Dešriutė and Business Development Manager Rokas Jašinskas — participated in the GITEX Europe 2025 exhibition in Berlin. Elpako is one of the solutions developed by NEVDA, designed to enable smooth document signing at customer service points.
At the exhibition, our team showcased the biometric signature platform, demonstrating how it integrates into real organizational workflows and enables efficient digitization of signing processes. The solution was exhibited at the InfoBalt stand alongside other Lithuanian technology developers.
After returning from the event, Justina shared insights on the current state of digitalization across Europe. In May 2025, Germany established its first Ministry of Digitalization and Government Modernization with the goal of centralizing digital processes. However, as our team observed, putting this vision into practice presents significant challenges.
Due to the federal structure of the country, the level of digitalization varies widely between institutions. Some have already adopted modern solutions, while in many public sector organizations document handling still relies on outdated methods. In some cases, up to 80 to 90 percent of documents are still transmitted by fax. At the same time, certain sectors such as waste management have reached advanced levels, using smart cameras and artificial intelligence to analyze sorting quality
“This clearly shows that digitalization is not uniform. In some areas technology is applied very effectively, yet basic processes such as document handling continue to lag,” notes Justina Dešriutė.
According to the Elpako team, what matters most in this situation is not the novelty of technology but how it is used to solve real user problems. The electronic signature is one of the key elements in this transformation. It enables secure, legally grounded processes in both public and private sectors.
“Our goal is to offer solutions that make daily life better, not through futuristic ideas but through tangible results. Signing must be fast, clear and reliable,” emphasizes Justina

Innovation Between Reality and Responsibility
At GITEX Europe, high-tech topics dominated the agenda, from breakthroughs in quantum computing to the latest financial innovations. One of the most impressive exhibits was IBM Quantum System Two, symbolizing significant progress in artificial intelligence and supercomputing.
Elsewhere at the exhibition, discussions focused on digital wallets and customer identity verification. The fintech sector presented not only technical solutions but also new approaches to making digital payments faster, more trustworthy and more convenient. There was significant attention on biometric data, digital IDs and the creation of trust in digital interactions.
There were also serious warnings among the innovations. Cybersecurity expert Mark T. Hofmann discussed how criminals exploit generative AI technologies such as ChatGPT, WormGPT and deepfake tools. His message was clear: the more powerful the technologies, the greater the responsibility in creating and applying them.
“Innovations must remain connected to reality. Technology developers must think not only about possibilities but also about how solutions impact everyday life,” emphasizes the Elpako Product Lead.

Elpako — A Solution That Works Today
The Elpako biometric signature platform is a NEVDA-developed solution focused on real-world use, not demonstrations. It allows users to:
- Sign documents on a tablet
- Work with ready-made templates
- Use an assisted mode for live collaboration between clients and staff
- Integrate easily into client systems via API
The platform complies with the eIDAS regulation, making it suitable for both public and private sector organizations.
“When a process works well, time is saved, errors are reduced, and trust grows between the client and the organization. That is the true value of digitalization,” notes Justina.

Purposeful Partnerships for Conscious Growth
During the exhibition, the Elpako team met with Ferrari Electronic AG, a company that develops secure and efficient communication systems. The partner’s experience in both public and private sectors enables the creation of solutions that meet high legal requirements and user expectations.
“Collaboration with partners like this allows us to build not just products but to contribute to systemic digitalization processes. It is not just growth, but responsibility,” says the Elpako team representative.
Technology can be inspiring, but solutions that truly change experience come from understanding how work happens today. NEVDA understands this, and creates solutions that work for people, not the other way around.
